But all that could be about to change after a presenter on TikTok channel @know_about_cars revealed a nifty trick to teach millions of people how to safely defog their windscreen in a matter of seconds.
Revealing the two-button trick with a video titled "Man shares easy two-button combo which defogs his windscreen in seconds - but it took him ten years of driving to figure out”, the presenter said: "When driving in winter, it's very easy to fog up the windshield and affect driving vision.
"Many older drivers will put a rag in the car when you can't see clearly and wipe it with a rag. In fact not only is it not effective, it also affects driving safety."
Going on to explain how to clear the windscreen quickly and effectively, he continued: “We all have one in the car – the windshield automatic defogging function. Then the windshield will no longer fog up."
He went on to explain that the motorists should then look at their centre console to find the "outer loop".
Once this has been clicked, the TikToker said the driver should then locate the "fan shaped logo" and click on that, before adjusting the air volume and temperature to a moderate which, the presenter said, will cause “the fog on the windshield will disappear in no time.”
